Acute Headache Lecture
This Acute Headache Lecture was delivered in October 2008. It describes the presentation and management of acute headache disorders as they are managed by acute physicians in the United Kingdom.
I have a lot of experience seeing this sort of headache - I would see about 100-150 acute headache cases in hospital each year. The majority are not seriously ill but greatly in need of diagnosis, reassurance and pain relief. This lecture will cover important aspects of differential diagnosis of the main types of acute headache: - Thunderclap Headache
- Headache and Fever
- Headache with Focal Neurology
- New Onset Persistent Headache
There will also be more detail on thunderclap headache, and reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndromes.
There will also be advice on what to do for persistent headaches after you have found a normal CT Brain and Lumbar Puncture.
