Borage extract - Hangover relief?

Borage (Borago officinalis), has been tested as a hangover relief medication. It is a widely available plant - mostly found in the Mediterranean. It has one of the highest known concentrations of the fatty acid gamma-linoleic acid (GLA). GLA has strong anti-inflammatory properties.

The trial of its use in hangover has never been published in full, but was reported, indirectly in 2005.

It would appear that the anti-inflammatory properties of GLA sourced from Borago officinalis do result in a significant reduction in "overall hangover symptom" scores.

The full text article on hangover "cures" by Pittler et al (2005) can be found at www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/331/7531/1515.
