What causes pain in face?

The main thing is to realise that facial pain has a long list of causes, and that care must be taken not to attribute all facial pain to trigeminal neuralgia.

About 40% of people with migraine will have facial pain during a migraine, and this is the most common cause of episodes of facial pain.



Facial pain is often diagnosed as "sinus headache". However, if sinus headaches do not respond to sinus medicines there is a high chance that bouts of facial pain will be migraine.

Migraine can be much more easily treated than sinus disease.
